After months of antagonising waiting, planning, arguing and deciding, it was finally here. Three days in glorious metal heaven (as close to heaven as you can get 10 seconds out of Derby anyway). In actual fact, the first day was met with aparthy from the most of us, apart from the strong desire to see Children of Bodom, it was expected that day 1 would be the most average, or even most boring. The weekend plans to watch the "best bands we can think off" as described by Luke, or "Crap" by a shortly converted Adam where soon thrust into action (cheeky ;D) with the well reviewed Puddle of Mudd for those who could be bothered (Ie Simmonds and Aimee), but for the majority, it all began at Black Stone Cherry who sung their hard southern rock songs with excitement that soon filled the fresh faced audience, and even their cover of an Adele song was also surprisingly well received (We all love a bit of Adele, dont we).
They finished their set with "a new one that has been on the radio all week". The average radio ratings where subsequently displayed by the amount of people who had little or no idea of the new track.
All the while watching this surprising impressive band I had a feeling in my gut that could only have been brought on by one of two things; either I was about to ask a super-hot girl out or, and probably the more likely, I was already waiting for a date, with Children of Bodom! Yes, the feelings of anxiety, fear, love (and possibly a boner) where all at once attacking my emotions. It was Alexy time, and didn't I know it! Not my Funeral was the first song up, and it blew my mind, (I especially love this one becuase of the fact that it reminds me of the GTA: San Andreas intro song, right?)
The whole set, the songs, the order they where played, how Alexy, Roope ect conducted themselves on the newest songs and even the arty trademark reaper baring backdrop (also the new album cover) shouted "Hi, we're Children of Bodom, we have a new album and we like it a thousand times more than our old stuff". Which after 17-18 years of being in a band, playing your old songs again and again must, on the whole, be mind numbing, right? Although it could be said that tracks from Hate Crew Deathroll where missed slightly (Oh how I long to hear Needled 24/7 live!!).
And that concludes my day one of Download, i know its bare but i must admit i did forget about watchin kOrn... I am an idiot...
Tom :D

We Are Fiction - Royal Wedding Special! 29th April 2011
Well, well, well. Here we are again, Friday night at the Met lounge in Peterborough, Jäger in hand, joined by friends, waiting for the homecoming heroes, We Are Fiction, to appear. The support for this royal occasion included; fellow Peterborian's "The Crooked Canes", Self described "South UK" quintet "Death of an Artist" and Essex boys "GIANTS". We're in for some show!
First on - The Crooked Canes. - ***
Pretty good, they where clearly nervous but despite hardly uttering a word outside their songs, played a good solid show and i think, and kinda hope, won some fans.
Second on - Death of an Artist - ***
Really good band. Much like "The Crooked Canes" they didn't speak a lot, also opting for the safer route of "get in, show them what you've got, get the fuck out". This worked well for them and no doubt will be back sooner rather than later.
Third on - GIANTS - ****
This was when the 'real show' began. People got up, got to the front and went for it! These guys where awesome and showed everyone why a good number of people where wearing their t's. Giants the band heavily influenced by their love for skating clearly reflected in their music and more obviously the cover of the EP that i ended up buying with £2 and two Mc Donald's McMuffin tokens.
Fourth and final act on - We Are Fiction - *****
What can i say? Just amazing AGAIN. The only thing stopping me from phoning Sony BMG up right now is the fear that i may never see the band at the Met Lounge ever again and they will be given Bring Me The Horizon or Whitney Houston songs to cover (also the slight problem that i don't have Sony BMG's phone number). Bitch was once again played amazing, Sail On sounded FUCKING GREAT and collectively my friends got a New era hat from one of the band members, two t-shirts, a moan from a girl who got her face crudely stood on and Ben got a high five from Phil after the show for taking his shirt off and displaying his man-tits for everyone to see.

Download Festival! ect...
Myself (Tom), Lewis along with a load of other people will be joining the masses of 'Metal England' on the 10-12 July for a 3-day 4-night music extravaganza! We have our tickets, £500 of camping stuff for the 9 of us that are going, oh and enough beer to tranquilize a large hippo! Clearly as the infamous Rebeca Black would say "We so excited".
Anyone following Gm on YouTube or perhaps more relevant to this article, Blogger/Twitter can ask either me or Lewis for info on Download festival as we have the knowledge that you need! So whether you want to know anything from "How much are the tickets?", "What ticket should i buy?" to "Is my stiff likely to get trashed and/or set alight?", "How long is you're cock" it really doesn't matter what the question is, one of us WILL get back to you (:
With System of a Down, Korn, Bullet for my Valentine, Bowling for Soup, Bring me the Horizon, Suicide Silence, Linkin' Park, Pendulum, so on so forth going, it is clear that this fest is going to keep an estimated 60,000~ happy, even those that do not have hundreds of Litres of Beer!
